Meh.
I feel like part of the minority here, but I’m just not that excited about the iPad. My apathy is twofold. One, Apple’s justification for the iPad’s existence is to fill in the gap between the iPhone and the MacBook. I really don’t see a gap there that needs filling. In any instance where my phone isn’t powerful or large enough to do what I need, I have my laptop with me. In any case where I need something more portable than my laptop, my phone does the job. An intermediate device is just not necessary.
Second, it’s lacking in several departments. No camera? No Flash? No multitasking? No USB port? And any iBooks I buy via Apple’s store can’t be viewed on any other eBook reader I may have? Are you serious, Apple? I definitely have some hardcore fangirl feelings for the brand, but wow did they miss the mark on this one.

Em, I’m pretty thrilled to see you posting again - just checked in randomly and it was nice to see you here!
As for the iPad - give it some time, try one in a store, and give it a shot. I’m extremely optimistic - this is Star Trek in action. Yes, practically you don’t need it with an iPHone and a Macbook and all that.
At first, I was pretty against the concept, but it grew on me throughout the day. The main thing that did it was thinking about using my phone on airplanes. The battery runs down, and then all of a sudden, I don’t have a phone when I get off the plane (or a ride, because I’m an idiot who rather play Tower Defense). From my point of view, there’s this desire with the iPhone to be a phone - you get in, you get your work done, you carry on with your day.
The entire development approach to the platform is that entirely - but the iPad is different. The point is for it to become this way to plan, organize, etc etc - yes, it sounds like I drank the koolaid, but I’m of the mindset that after I use this a few times, if I it allows ME to get organized, then maybe there’s something behind the madness.
