Four Months Later…

September 10th, 2009

Wow, remember when I had a blog? I can’t believe it’s been over four months already. This summer flashed by like no other.

So, a summary: I moved in with Colin and it’s wonderful to see him every day and fall asleep next to him every night.  No complaints so far except for the universal guy-girl problem with the toilet seat.  Merlin went to live with a super nice woman in Brighton who also has two little dogs, and he is fitting in perfectly.  I miss him like crazy, but I’ll get to spend the weekend with him since I’m watching the farm while the parents get away for a couple of days.  Jasmine made herself at home with one of the neighbors of her own free will, so she is staying there, and Muffin is enjoying life on the farm (the actual farm, not the figurative one).

I had three weeks off in between quitting my job and starting school, so I visited my dad in Arkansas.  I knew I was in trouble when he said coming to Fort Smith to pick me up was like a voyage to the Big City for him - the Fort Smith airport has all of two gates in it.  But I ended up having more fun than I thought I would, and I might try to do my rural clinical rotation out there so as to have a free place to live.

School is three weeks in, and I’m still figuring it all out.  The first week of class I just about murdered myself doing all the assigned readings, so I decided for the sake of sanity to take it a little easier.  Now I have swung too far the other way and am not studying enough, so I’m working on finding a happy medium.  The instructors all keep saying the biggest thing we have to do this semester is figure out how to study, and so far it’s completely true.  Well, that and figure out advanced statistics.  I go into convulsions whenever the words “positive likelihood ratio” are uttered.

Oh, and since my last post was about hair - I had to get rid of the pink hair for school, as they have a strict professional dress code in all of their doctoral programs.  It is now reddish with lots of blonde grow-out… I want to get back to my natural color *SOME*how, but that is proving to be more difficult than I expected.  So, ugly roots for the foreseeable future.  Hopefully pink hair again at some point, although finding a job that will allow it may be hard.

So there you have it!  I shall be back in less than four months, since I’m feeling the urge to post these days.  For now, nap time.
