Snow Day

March 26th, 2009

While I was busy hitting the snooze button this morning, I got a text message informing me that the CU campus was closed due to snow. As there hadn’t been a single flake in the sky when I went to bed 6 hours prior, I was taken a bit by surprise. But whatever, it’s Colorado, snow is nothing new here. After 20 minutes of trailing behind a line of cars going 10 mph I was only a third of the way to the office, and I got a call telling me that I may as well turn around and go home because all of our patients had cancelled. Gladly!

I read some of my book, took a five (yes, five) hour nap, and made a delicious lunch. It’s just too bad we don’t get paid for bad weather days!

Here’s the view outside my front door:

Honestly, I think this is more snow than we’ve gotten the rest of the winter COMBINED. It has been the most global-warming-esque winter I’ve ever seen. I just hope all this snow does something to dampen my allergies.

Work and Play

March 11th, 2009

Tomorrow morning marks the culmination of thousands of phone calls made, hundreds of invitations mailed, 50 name badges printed, three gift baskets created, and one big pain in my ass: we are finally having our seminar at work. I can’t wait for it to be over! What better time to take off for a four-day weekend in Vegas?

I’m excited for the 5-star hotel, pedicures with my best friend, fancy dinners, and almost 96 uninterrupted hours with my fantastic boyfriend. I’m also daunted by the task of trying to fit four days’ worth of things into one carry-on suitcase, as I am the girliest girl who ever girled and I need a minimum of 6 pairs of shoes and 27 beauty products to pull of a trip to Vegas, but I’m going to do my damndest not to pay that stupid checked bag fee.

Oh, how I wish I had ordered those travel sized vacuum bags! Being able to compress my clothing into a veritable black hole would be so convenient right now.
In other news: I have been accepted to Regis University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program! I’m also on the waitlist at another school, but I’m not counting very heavily on my spot opening up. So, just over three years from now I will officially be a DPT! Ack! I’m definitely excited and relieved that I’ll be able to start this year, but also a bit intimidated that it’s finally a reality. The next few years are going to be pretty tough.
