Sick

February 26th, 2006

I have some sort of cold/flu. Feel sorry for me. Also feel free to send flowers, cards, and bath oils, but please no stuffed animals.

Thank you.

A New Hope

February 19th, 2006

I talked to Ethan this morning while trying to convince myself to get out of bed (okay so it was more like one in the afternoon). Very much to my surprise, he sounds serious about changing his life. I honestly just assumed that, despite his assurances to the contrary, things were not going to change. But he seems to be taking a proactive approach to resolving his issues. Maybe he deserves a little more credit and maybe I wrote him off too quickly. I suppose we’ll see.

Thermostat In Hell Reads 16 Degrees

February 17th, 2006

Well I made it. Somehow. I got an 86 on my calculus exam and a 90 on my chemistry exam, and I am very pleased with both. Now I can relax for another three weeks.

It’s been snowing for two days straight and the themometer hasn’t crept above 20 degrees since Wednesday. Having your boogers freeze inside your nose when you’re outside for more than a minute isn’t as awesome as it sounds. In fact it is not at all awesome. I wish I was in Phoenix with Ethan.

Speaking of Ethan, I still don’t miss him. I don’t think this bodes well for our relationship. I’ll try the couples counseling because I told him I would, but don’t anybody be shocked if I’m single in a couple weeks.

Hell Week

February 13th, 2006

Is this week over yet? No? Damn.

I have a sociology exam Tuesday, a calculus exam Wednesday, and a chemistry exam Thursday. Ouch. At least I feel reasonably prepared for all three. My chemistry tutor seems to think I’m some kind of genius… nevermind the fact that I just had to look up how to spell genius… so hopefully I’ll get something awesome for my exam score.

Ethan left for Phoenix Sunday morning. He’s going to see a pancreas specialist that his mom knows, and have his surgery if it isn’t too complicated. Personally, I’m glad for the space. He’s been on my last nerve lately and I don’t need that to deal with this week. I guess we’re going to try some counseling when he gets back to see if this relationship can be saved.

Oh, I also found this new website that is inspiring me to take artsy photographs. There are some lame pictures (my post for this week included), but a lot of beautiful shots as well.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have lots of reading on socialization to do. Here’s hoping the week goes by quickly.

I Won’t

February 11th, 2006

I won’t be your mommy.
I won’t tell you what to eat to keep you out of the hospital, and I won’t feel guilty if you make yourself sick again and I don’t have time to come visit you every day.
I won’t drive you to your appointments.
I won’t answer the phone when you call for the fifth time that day.
I won’t say “I love you too” every time just to make you feel better.
I won’t be your dogsitter.
I won’t keep track of you 24/7 to make sure you aren’t doing anything stupid.
You are a grown man and I won’t run your life for you.

But I will give you a chance to fix it.

All Alex’s Fault

Apparently this is what happens when you give Alex a pad of Post-its.

These Days

February 2nd, 2006

Life right now just isn’t that interesting… school, homework, that’s basically it. Ethan’s lucky if he sees me a couple times a week. I guess that’s what happens when you take chemistry and calculus in the same semester.

The good news is that I am officially addicted to Lost. Yeah, old news I know, but I just got around to renting season 1. Let me tell you, if you have the time to watch it go to the video store RIGHT NOW, but if you don’t then for God’s sake stay away because you will be sucked in. It’s like the black hole of television. Plus the people who ended up together on this deserted island are all suspiciously attractive. It’s as if a modeling convention crashed out in the middle of nowhere.

Ethan spent the last week in the hospital (pancreas flare-up again) but he got out this evening. Apparently the reason he keeps getting sick is because he has some cysts on his pancreas, so he’s going to have them removed next week and then, hopefully, all of this mess will be over.

Now it’s time for… guess what! Homework! *sigh*
