Highlights

Here are a few pics from my vacation. It was the most exhausting vacation I’ve ever had.
The moving company was two and a half days late coming to pick up Thompson’s things. What was supposed to be a leisurely three day drive turned into a 31-hour sprint across the country. We were supposed to leave early Wednesday morning. Here’s what time we actually ended up leaving, Thursday night.

Skip forward a week to Atlanta, because I’m a bad person and I didn’t take any pictures of Alabama. Here’s Thompson and me touring The World of Coke.

Fast forward once again to Vermont. I reiterate that I am a bad person. Here’s me with my little cousins, Shannon and Jennifer. How cute are they? Don’t you need some kind of permit to be that cute?

Here’s me having lunch at the top of the Prudential Tower in Boston with my cousin Annie.

And last but not least, here’s the picture I took out the bus window in NYC while trying not to hyperventilate because the bus was an hour and a half late getting there and I was about to miss my plane. Which I did. Miss the plane, not hyperventilate.

So that’s it, folks. Eight new states visited in twelve days. Now I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.

PS- Sorry about the huge pictues… this is my first attempt at photo blogging. I’ll do better next time. Ninja Edit: Alex Fixed Them Alex, you rock so much.

Alone Again

August 14th, 2004

Well, Lisa and Rory broke up, and Rory is moving back to Austin tomorrow. I won’t even get to say goodbye. So it looks like I’ll be living alone again for a little while. I don’t mind it, but I get pretty lonely sometimes… especially now that Thompson is in Alabama. We decided not to do the long distance thing because it’s just so hard. Let me tell you, I really wasn’t planning on missing him this much. Anyway, I don’t know what I’ll do about the living situation… I don’t want to live alone forever but I don’t really want to live with someone I don’t know, either. I’m hoping against hope that Lisa will change her mind and move back in.

I’m in Vermont tonight, staying at my aunt’s house. Tomorrow I’ll take a bus to Boston to stay with my cousin, then Monday I fly back to Denver from New York. This has not been a very relaxing vacation. Too much traveling. I think the longest I stayed in one place was two nights. I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again.

Yesterday my mom informed me that she would be taking Jasmine (my cat) to live on her friend’s ranch so she can kill all the mice and that I pretty much had no choice in the matter. I know it’s the right thing to do and that she’ll be a lot happier living outdoors, but she’s my girl and it’s hard to let her go. At least my mom promised to get me a kitten as a replacement. I’ll be “interviewing” one when I get back to Denver. Knowing me, it won’t be a very long interview.

Bling, Bling!

August 12th, 2004

Due to some rather unfortunate circumstances, I ended up meeting most of Thompson’s family last weekend. They were all really nice to me and I like all of them, but there’s one person in particular who tickled my fancy: Uncle Johnny.

Picture an older man, fifties probably, bald on top with some shag around the sides, a little hunched over. Now add some outrageous shirts and ties(he owns London Shop, the fanciest suit store in town), some huge gold bifocals, and about 3 carats of diamonds on each hand. Seriously, this guy was sportin some major ice. His wedding ring was probably about the size of a quarter, covered in diamonds. His cufflinks (also quite sparkly) were little working watches. He looked like some sort of loaded used car salesman. I love Uncle Johnny.
